In this strategic leadership role, you’ll identify, secure and grow new business opportunities while strengthening existing partnerships and expanding our Social Enterprise brand nationally. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to increase market share, secure contracted work and deliver strong commercial outcomes across the organisation.
You’ll guide growth initiatives across the Social Enterprise portfolio, with the ability to quickly understand and articulate our full suite of services, including Property Care, while identifying opportunities to cross-sell across the broader genU network, including genU Training and Employment Pathways.
This role suits someone who is commercially astute, relationship-focused and outcomes-driven, with strong experience in business development, sales and growth strategy. You’ll bring a practical and strategic mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills and a passion for delivering both commercial success and social impact.
Reporting to the relevant leader, you’ll play an important role in driving continuous performance improvement, achieving or exceeding budget targets and supporting the ongoing growth and sustainability of genU’s Social Enterprises.
At genU, we’re a profit-for-purpose organisation, reinvesting our success back into programs to create real social impact. From disability and aged care support to community-focused initiatives, we’re here to help people live their best lives.
What you’ll do
As a Business Development Manager, you'll:
- Lead and implement the Social Enterprise Business Development and Social Procurement Strategy across State and National operations.
- Drive national growth within the Property Care division by identifying and securing large-scale, recurring contract opportunities.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships across government, corporate and community sectors to generate new business and long-term partnerships.
- Develop and manage a strong sales pipeline, achieving revenue targets through effective business development, forecasting and CRM management in Salesforce.
- Prepare and support high-quality tenders, proposals, business cases and contract submissions to secure new revenue opportunities.
- Promote and position the full Social Enterprise service offering, including cross-selling opportunities across the portfolio and broader genU services such as Training and Employment Pathways.
- Lead and support a high-performing team while representing the organisation at industry events, networking opportunities and stakeholder engagements across Australia.
What you’ll bring
- Demonstrated experience in a senior Business Development, Sales or Growth role, with a proven track record of achieving and exceeding revenue targets.
- Proven ability to develop and implement successful business development strategies across State and National markets.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience securing and managing complex contracts, tenders and strategic partnerships.
- Experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing teams to achieve strategic and operational objectives.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills across government, corporate and community sectors.
- Advanced capability in pipeline management, sales forecasting and reporting, with high-level proficiency in Salesforce CRM.
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience within Property Care, facilities management, maintenance or related industries (highly desirable).
- Experience working within Social Enterprise, Community Services or Social Procurement environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing tenders, contracts and large-scale submissions.
- Proven ability to identify and deliver cross-selling opportunities across diverse service portfolios.
(You’ll also need an NDIS Worker Screening Check and Orientation Module Certificate – but don’t worry, we’ll help guide you through this.)
