Hey you!

We’re on the lookout for an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager to lead the way in identifying and securing new growth opportunities across genU’s Social Enterprise portfolio, with a focus on Property Care and Business Solutions within Victoria and, where applicable, nationally.

In this role, you’ll oversee the development and execution of growth strategies, lead the acquisition of new business, and expand market presence by building strong commercial and professional relationships. You’ll bring strategic thinking, market insight, and a strong alignment with Social Enterprise commercial strategy to drive sustainable revenue growth.

If you’re someone who thrives on creating new opportunities, building impactful partnerships, and contributing to the growth and success of purpose-driven services, we want to hear from you!

At genU, we’re a profit-for-purpose organisation, reinvesting our success back into programs to create real social impact. From disability and aged care support to community-focused initiatives, we’re here to help people live their best lives.

What you’ll do

As our Business Development Manager, you will:

  • Develop and deliver a business development strategy aligned with genU’s National Social Enterprise and organisational objectives.
  • Identify, assess, and pursue new market opportunities, including geographic expansion, new business lines, and social procurement initiatives.
  • Drive sales growth through new business acquisition, tendering, and contract negotiation with government and commercial partners.
  • Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with clients, industry groups, community organisations, and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop innovative, customer-focused solutions that support commercial success and social impact.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and business development performance, providing insights and reporting to senior leadership.
  • Represent genU at industry events and ensure compliance with organisational policies, systems (including CRM), and flexible operational requirements.

What you’ll bring

  • Significant experience in a senior commercial, partnerships and/or procurement role.
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships, preferably within a social enterprise, not-for-profit, or impact-driven business.
  • Strong understanding of social procurement frameworks and the ability to leverage them for growth.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying, negotiating, and securing high-value contracts and partnerships.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to balance financial sustainability with social impact.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry trends, government policies, and market dynamics.

(You’ll also need an NDIS Worker Screening Check and Orientation Module Certificate – but don’t worry, we’ll help guide you through this.)

Bonus points for

  • Experience in the construction and/or horticulture industry including estimations or quoting
  • Knowledge of government infrastructure projects, processes and system
