genU is seeking an experienced Data Governance and Privacy Manager to drive the creation, execution, and continuous improvement of organisation-wide data governance and privacy frameworks. In this role, you will ensure data is treated as a strategic asset, meets all regulatory requirements, and supports the organisation’s commitment to ethical, secure, and effective data use.

What you’ll do

As a Data Governance and Privacy Manager in our Risk and Assurance team you’ll:

  • Develop and maintain genUs data breach response plan. 
  • Support genUs regulatory compliance. 
  • Lead the organisation’s privacy function, overseeing privacy-related inquiries, complaints, and breach notifications, including reporting to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, NDIA, ASD and other relevant bodies. 
  • Lead internal privacy audits and ensure alignment with APP principles and audit recommendations. 

 

What you’ll bring

  • Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in privacy, data governance, data management, corporate records management or related field  
  • Strong understanding of Australian privacy legislation (e.g., APPs, OAIC guidelines) 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills 
  • Experience building strong value-driven relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Critical thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

 

(You’ll also need an NDIS Worker Screening Check and Orientation Module Certificate – but don’t worry, we’ll help guide you through this.)

 

Bonus points for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science or related field
  • Experience leading cross-functional governance programs 
  • Familiarity with data architecture, analytics platforms, and master data management
