Hey you!

genU is looking for a progressive and values-driven Group Financial Controller to join our Finance team.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who can combine strong governance and financial control with curiosity, innovation and a genuine drive to improve how things are done.

You may already be operating at Group Financial Controller level, or you may be a highly capable and ambitious finance leader ready to take the next step. What matters most is that you bring sound judgement, strong technical foundations, initiative and the ability to lead positive change.

At genU, we’re a profit-for-purpose organisation, reinvesting our success back into programs to create real social impact. From disability and aged care support to community-focused initiatives, we’re here to help people live their best lives.

We're open to flexible hours, part-time  .08 FTE arrangements together with hybrid working – because great people thrive in different ways.

What you’ll do

As our Group Financial Controller, you'll play a key leadership role across the organisation by:

  • Leading statutory, month-end and year-end financial reporting, ensuring accurate and timely information supports Executive and Board decision-making.
  • Providing enterprise-wide leadership across financial governance, internal controls, compliance, treasury, taxation and shared financial services.
  • Partnering with the CFO, Executive Leadership Team and senior stakeholders to provide practical, commercially informed financial advice and responsive internal customer service.
  • Driving improvements across financial processes, systems and ways of working through automation, technology and emerging tools, including AI.
  • Developing and leading a capable, engaged and high-performing finance team while constructively challenging existing practices and guiding stakeholders through change.

What you’ll bring

  • CA or CPA qualification, with strong experience across financial accounting, statutory reporting, audit, governance and internal controls.
  • Sound knowledge of treasury, cashflow, investment management, taxation obligations and Australian Accounting Standards.
  • A proactive and forward-looking approach, with demonstrated experience improving financial processes, systems or services.
  • Strong judgement, learning agility and curiosity about automation, AI and emerging technology within finance.
  • A collaborative and service-oriented leadership style, with the ability to influence stakeholders, build team capability and lead change with integrity.

We welcome applications from established senior finance leaders as well as high-potential candidates who are ready to step into a broader leadership role.

(You’ll also need an NDIS Worker Screening Check and Orientation Module Certificate – but don’t worry, we’ll help guide you through this.)

Bonus points for

  • Experience leading finance transformation, automation and ERP system improvements.
  • Previous experience working within a large not-for-profit, health, community services or purpose-led organisation.

Why you’ll love working at genU

At genU, we’re committed to creating a welcoming, safe, and respectful space where everyone is empowered to play their part in the important work that we do.

We welcome diversity in all its forms including disability, culture, gender, age, sexuality and religion and celebrate the unique perspectives and experience each of us brings.

You’ll also get

  • Flexibility - full time or 0.8 FTE arrangements, together with hybrid working
  • Salary packaging - up to $15,900 tax-free plus meal/entertainment benefits
  • Purchased leave options - the ability to buy additional annual leave to support work-life balance and flexibility.
