genU is seeking a passionate and community-minded Support for Carer’s Officer to help unpaid carers feel connected, supported and empowered. This role focuses on building innovative, engaging and meaningful support networks for carers and the people they care for.

What you’ll do

 

As a Support for Carer’s Officer in our Community team, you’ll:

 

  • Plan and facilitate innovative carer programs, activities and events that provide education, connection and wellbeing support
  • Identify and engage carers across funded DFFH divisions, local areas and LGAs
  • Coordinate carer support and networking groups for those caring for people with disability, mental illness, chronic illness or age-related needs
  • Facilitate access to services and supports that align with carers’ interests and wellbeing goals
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships to ensure programs run effectively
  • Represent genU at Carer Alliance meetings, Department forums and community events

 

What you’ll bring

 

  • Experience working autonomously in a community, disability, aged care or carer support environment
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to plan, coordinate and facilitate group programs and events
  • Confidence working with diverse stakeholders, carers and care recipients
  • A genuine commitment to person-centred, co-designed support

 

You’ll also need:

 

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current Driver’s Licence

 

Bonus points for

 

  • Qualifications in Social Work, Community Services, Lifestyle & Leisure or a related field
  • Experience working with carers, mental health, disability, chronic illness or ageing populations
